I'lo Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #99-05 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACQUISITION OF FORFEITED 1998 FORD PICKUP AND THE TRANSFER OF $14,000 FROM PUBLIC WORKS TO FIRE DEPARMENT'S 1999 BUDGET TO PAY OFF LIEN AMOUNT AND ACQUIRE SAID VEHICLE WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department seized a I998 Ford 4x4 pickup in September 1998 pertaining to a DUI arrest; and WHEREAS, Anoka County District Court ordered said vehicle as subject to forfeiture by the City and the vehicle owner waived his right to appeal the order; and WltEREAS, a $14,000 lien remains on the vehicle, which the City would be required to pay to US Bank Corp to retain the vehicle and place it in the City's inventory; and WHEREAS, the Fire Department is in need of a staff vehicle; WHEREAS, the 1999 capital budget of the Public Works Department has sufficient funds to cover the cost of acquiring said vehicle; and WHEREAS, a transfer from the Public Works 1999 budgeted capital line item in the amount of $14,000 could be transferred to the 1999 budget of the Fire Department to pay off the outstanding lien. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the City to pay off the outstanding lien of $I4,000 and obtain title to a 1998 Ford 4x4 that was acquired by forfeiture, and allow the transfer of $14,000 from the 1999 budget of the Public Works Department to the 1999 budget of the Fire Department to fund said vehicle. The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereofi and the following voted against: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: I I I I !
