PC CASE #

ADOPT UPDATED ORGANIZATIONAL CHART
By: Joyce Pruitt Hottinger, Administrative Services Manager

Background:

The City Council has authorized a number of organizational changes during the past year.
The organization chart has been revised to reflect those changes. A copy of the revised
chart and a copy of the outdated chart are attached for comparison.

Explanation of changes:

In 1998 and 1999, the City Council authorized the following changes:

1. The Fire Board was renamed the Public Safety Board in January 1999.

The Economic Development Commission was renamed the Economic
Development Authority in December 1998.

3. Timothy Dwyer was appointed to the Corporal position in July 1998.

The Community Development Secretary position was filled by Tara Olson in
March 1999.

o

The regular, full-time Administrative Assistant position was reclassified by City
Council on May 25, 1999. This is an exempt position, which reports to the City
Administrator.

Funding for a part-time regular Receptionist position was approved by City
Council on May 25, 1999. Council will be requested to authorize a recruitment
process on June 8, 1999 for this position.

4

Funding for a part-time regular Public Safety Aide was approved by Council on
May 25, 1999. Council will be requested to authorize the formal reclassification
request on June 8, 1999.

o

Economic development services are being contracted out, and are reflected in the
draft organizational chart under Consulting Services.

o

Contract inspectors have been added under the Building Official to note the City's
current service arrangement.

In addition, the draft organizational chart reflects a total of seven (7) maintenance
workers under both the Parks/Utilities and Street Maintenance Supervisors. It was felt
this more accurately denotes that the City holds general maintenance worker positions.
