Mnnes'ta <br />Sustainable Community Forum: <br />Greening the Building Code <br />When: April 5th, 2011 from 12:00 to 1:30pm <br />Where: Roseville City Council Chambers, <br />2660 Civic Center Drive, Roseville, MN 55113 <br />Cost: Free, please feel free to bring a bag lunch <br />if you would like. <br />Applied for 1.5 APA CM credits <br />About: The Minnesota Chapter of the United <br />States Green Building Council (USGBC) hosts <br />quarterly Sustainable Communities Forum to <br />support communities in their sustainability ef- <br />forts. The greening of the building code has ar- <br />rived with the creation of the International Green <br />Building Code and National Green Building <br />Standards. Join Nick Carver, Assistant Building <br />Official for the City of Maplewood, for an over- <br />view of both codes and learn how they work in <br />tandem with other green rating systems like <br />LEED. Find out how jurisdictions can custom- <br />ize a green building program through the use of <br />the minimum standards, special jurisdictional <br />requirements and project electives. Minnesota <br />examples of implementation will highlight cost- <br />effective strategies for implementation. <br />Speaker: Nick Carver has been the Assistant <br />Building Official for the City of Maplewood <br />since 1987. He has been active in the develop- <br />ment of green building codes through his role as <br />the Chairmain for the Green Building/Energy <br />Code Development Committee and as Secretary <br />for the Regional III International Code Develop- <br />ment Committee.
