I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />RAMSEY POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />MONTHLY REPORT <br /> JULY 1999 <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHTS <br /> <br />The department responded to 826 Calls For Service compared to in 849 July of 1998. <br /> <br />DARE/COMMUNITY POLICING <br /> <br />PUBLIC SAFETY AIDE UNIT ACTIVITY <br /> <br />In JULY 1999, a total of 99.0 hours were donated by members in the following areas: <br /> <br />MEETINGS / TRAINING: <br /> <br />A total of 21 hours were donated by Public Safety Aide Members for training in JULY <br /> <br />On 07-13-99, (7) Public Safety Aides participated in a "Defensive Driving Course" which was put on by Officer <br />Stolp and Corporal Dwyer. Connexus Energy was kind enough to allow us to use their back parking lot and traffic <br />cones for the exercises. The training was modeled after the pursuit driving courses held at the Minnesota Highway <br />Safety Center. <br /> <br />GENERAL DUTY: <br /> <br />4 members participated in a total of 41.5 hours of General Public Safety Aide Duty. During the course of their <br />duties, the Public Safety Aides found 1 open door, assisted officers on 6 calls, handled 2 non-priority calls, assisted <br />2 motorists, and conducted 2 transports. <br /> <br />SPECIAL DUTIES: <br /> <br />A total of 5.5 hours was dedicated by Public Safety Aides towards special details this month. <br /> <br />On 07-17-99, (2) members conducted a Safe and Sober SEAT BELT SURVEY at Hwy 47 and 149 Ave. <br /> <br />On 07-24-99, PSA Sharon Johnson represented Ramsey PD providing an assist to Coon Rapids PD at the Seniors <br />PGA Golf Tournament. <br /> <br />RIDE-ALONGS: <br /> <br />2 members participated in a total of 14 hours &ride-along with licensed officers. This is primarily a learning <br />experience for them and is meant to increase their skills and knowledge of what the police department does. Within <br />their authority, they assist full-time officers as needed. <br /> <br />YOUTH ACTIVITIES: <br /> <br />A total of 3 hours was dedicated by PSA Tim Bums at the 07-09-99 Community School "Teen Night" <br />COMMUNITY OUTREACH TEAM / COMMUNITY POLICING ACTIVITIES: <br /> <br />A total of 14 hours was dedicated towards community policing activities, including (1) Crime Watch Meeting. The <br />Community Outreach Team met once this month to discuss recruitment and group direction. PSA Don Bishop <br /> <br /> <br />
