I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> <br /> I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Observations - The petitioner again has requested stop signs on 137th Lane to slow down speeds. <br />The predominant movement of traffic on 137th Lane is that of a turning movement, right or left, <br />onto Garnet. A turning movement inherently requires some reduction in speed. The installation <br />of a stop sign would provide an additional degree of speed reduction, however, the posting of a <br />stop sign is a considerable inconvenience to traffic in terms of gas consumption, air emissions, <br />noise emissions, delay, and vehicle wear. <br /> <br />Recommendation- Staff recommends that this intersection remain uncontrolled. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend City Council direct or reject the installation of stop signs at the above- <br />listed locations. <br /> <br />Reviewed by: <br /> <br />Director of Public Works <br />Chief of Police <br />Community Development Director <br />Building Inspector <br /> <br />PW: 08/17/99 <br /> <br />5' <br /> <br /> <br />
