I I I I :1 I I I I I I I I I I I I I I Mr. Jankowski City of Ramsay July 2, 1999 Dear Mr. Jankowski: As per our conversation on July 2, 1999 we are requesting a stop sign be put i for the corner of 141Bt and Uranium. The excess speed around this corner is increasing over the four years we have lived here. This is a very busy street ~ its kids riding bikes, rollerblading, walking to the store, park, and friend's houses. The ages of the children are anywhere from new born to 17 (majority is 2-7 yr.~ old--there are I believe 24 chitdren on these two blocks alone not to include th~ children that come from Vanediurn/town houses to play that adds another 15 children, plus the daycare). The bigger problem is in this area VS the other areas you have already added the stop signs to is- this corner has a blind spot coming from both ways. When curving the corner there would be no way for a motorist to stop for a child simply looking and crossing the road. If you survey~o.' this neighborhood it is by far the busiest with children in the area. There are two daycare'S one off 141,t and the other one being the second house on Uranium 1 have noticed you have added several though out the area which I applaud you on but when I have been in these added area's i never see any children nor dc find it traveled as much as our corner- they seem to be very quiet and commor sense stop area's. We have three issues for needing a stop sign immedistely one to keep our children safe, two the excessive speed, and three the blind this comer has. These issues need to be addresses and controlled and we fe~.l this would work best. I did speak to someone at city hall and requested a stop sign over a year ago and they mentioned they did not work that people roll through them. If a motor roll's through them that is breaking the law and they can be dealt with -but eve then their speed would be drastically reduced. We are also getting a lot of tee~ drivers through the area and I believe they do not fully understand the consequences their speed can cause.. We have had several dose calls and ore being yesterday which in tum prompted me to call you again. Just to note this also where the bus stops for students this would not be an added hassle for thn bus drivers. I feel we pay taxes and if this is what our neighborhood wants and feels we that by living here and seeing what happens everyday we are the best judge this. We would really appreciate a stop sign on 141st and Uranium, your attenti;.,q to this matter is greatly appreciated to us. I also had one other concern: Wolferman, 141~ and the new townhouse entran.:~ no one knows who has the right away their should be a yield or stop sign comir, g out of the townhouses. That is a 3 way with no real direction on such a busy entrance to a neighborhood that many people use. Thank you, Mr. and Mrs,Alexander
