On July 27th, the Personnel Committee authorized staff to proceed with an
internal posting for the recruitment process. Based on that guidance, the position was advertised
internally and one application from a seasonal employee was received. A panel consisting of the
Administrative Services Manager, the Public Works Director/Fire Chief, the Public Works
Supervisor and the Parks/Utilities Supervisor interviewed the candidate on August 17.

Based on interview results, staff is recommending that Greg Lind be hired for the Public Works
Maintenance Worker position, contingent upon successful completion of background
investigations of driving record and criminal history, reference checks and a physical
examination. Mr. Lind's annual salary would be the starting step of the position in the City's
compensation plan, $24,071.00, or $11.57/hour. As with other maintenance worker
appointments, the new hire will work in both the streets and parks/utilities divisions as needed.

Committee Action:
Motion to recommend that City Council authorize hiring Greg Lind as the Public Works
Maintenance Worker, contingent upon successful completion of background investigations of
driving record and criminal history, reference checks, and a physical examination, at an annual
salary of $24,07 I.

Council Action:
Motion by City Council to authorize hiring Greg Lind as the Public Works Maintenance Worker,
contingent upon successful completion of background investigations of driving record and
criminal history, reference checks, and a physical examination, at an annual salary of $24,071.

Reviewed By:
City Administrator
Public Works Director/Fire Chief

Copies also distributed to:
