I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Public Works Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 15, 1999, <br />at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Chairperson Gerald Zimmerman <br />Councilmember Terry Hendriksen <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairperson Zimmerman called the regular meeting of the Public Works Committee to order at <br />5:25 p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />There was none. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: Emerald Pond Park Neighborhood Traffic Signage Plan <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that ~ithin the last year, the City has received requests for stop <br />signs to control speeding traffic at five intersections within the neighborhood. To date, only one <br />intersection, 142"a Lane and Tungsten, has been controlled with stop signs. He explained that at <br />the May Public Works Committee meeting, staff was asked to prepare a comprehensive signage <br />plan covering the entire neighborhood. Staff reviewed a number of exhibits, which included: 1) <br />school bus stop locations; 2) traffic accidents from 1993 to 1998; 3) primarily traveled streets; <br />4) all intersection stop control; 5) limited stop control; and 6) staff's proposed signage plan <br />which would include placing 10 speed limit signs on all main streets, and three pedestrian <br />crossing signs, but no new stop signs or watch for children signs. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Kapler stated that it is important to look at a complete plan for the <br />neighborhood rather than focusing on a specific intersection. <br /> <br />Shelly Peterson stated that she lives on 1444 and Tungsten Way and that there is a bus stop at <br />that intersection that was not included on the map and she wondered if the City Engineer had <br />known about the bus stop if it would have made a difference on a decision for placing a stop sign <br />or pedestrian crossing sign. <br /> <br />Public Works Committee/June 15, 1999 <br /> Page 1 of 8 <br /> <br /> <br />
