I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />! <br />I <br /> <br />PC CASE #: / <br /> <br />RECEIVE HIRING RECOMMENDATION PART-TIME RECEPTIONIST POSITION <br /> By: Joyce Pruitt Hottinger, Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br />On June 8, 1999 City Council authorized Staff to begin the process of hiring a part-time <br />Receptionist position for Administrative Services. The City has been utilizing a temporary <br />employee to fill this administrative support need since approximately January 1999. The funding <br />source for the regular status, 20-hour/week position was approved by Council on May 25, 1999. <br /> <br />In accordance with the City's administrative policy adopted on April 27, 1999, the position of <br />part-time Receptionist, was externally advertised. An ad was run in the local paper and 24 <br />applications were received. <br /> <br />The applications were reviewed independently by three staff members. Five finalists were <br />invited to participate in oral interviews on September 1, 1999 with Finance Officer Diana Lund, <br />Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik and .myself. All five candidates were asked the same <br />interview questions and were required to complete two in-basket assignments. <br /> <br />Based on interview results, staff is recommending Pam Miller be hired for the part-time <br />Receptionist position, contingent upon successful completion of background investigations of <br />driving records, criminal history and a physical examination. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br />Motion to recommend that City Council authorize hiring Pam Miller as the part-time <br />Receptionist, contingent upon successful completion of background investigations of driving <br />record and criminal history, and a physical examination, at an hourly salary of $11.36/hour (Step <br />1 of the Receptionist position 1999 pay plan). <br /> <br />Council Action: <br />Motion by City Council to authorize hiring Pam Miller as the part-time Receptionist, contingent <br />upon successful completion of background investigations of driving record and criminal history, <br />and a physical examination, at an hourly salary of $11.36/hour (Step 1 of the Receptionist <br />position 1999 pay plan). <br /> <br />Reviewed By: <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br />Copies also distributed to: <br /> <br />Attachments: <br /> None <br /> <br />PC 09/14/99 <br /> <br /> <br />
