conflict. The danger of an accident would be further compounded by allowing northbound Garnet Street, with a diminished sight distance, the right-of-way. Recommendation - Staff's first inclination would be to recommend stop signs on Garnet, facilitating the predominant movements through 137~h Avenue and requiring Garnet traffic, which has diminished sight lines along 137'h, to yield the right-of-way. When stopped at the corner of the intersection on northbound Garnet, the sight lines along 137t~ Avenue, have already been described as problematic. Hence, staff's recommendation is to leave the intersection uncontrolled. Councilmember Hendriksen questioned what the homeowners association is recommending. Ms. Fitzpatrick stated they are requesting either a two-way or a four-way stop at the intersection. In her opinion, installing stop signs only on Garnet would encourage the speeding which is the main problem so she would recommend the four-way stop. Councilmember Hendr/ksen suggested tabling the item until the next meeting to allow the Committee member more time to review the request. Councilmember Connolly stated that she would like to come out to the intersection and review the situation herself. Ms. Fitzpatrick stated that the Committee members would be welcome to come out to her house anytime. Motion by Councilmember Hendriksen, seconded by Councilmember Zimmerman, to table the item until the next Public Works Committee meeting. Motion carried. Case//4: Sunwood Drive Plans and Specifications City Engineer Jankowski stated at the August 10, 1999 Council meeting, a decision was made to proceed with the constructions of Sunwood Drive from Sunny Ponds to T.H. #47. Currently, the plans are 95% complete and are available for review. It is anticipated that the City will be requested to sign the final plan within tin:ce weeks. He explained that there are several details of the plan with which the Committee may want to have input on, which are as follows: 1) Crosswalks. There are no crosswalks included in the construction plans at the present time. It would not be difficult for the Public Works Department to add crosswalks afterward, however, they could very easily be added to the project. Staff recommends both Erkium Street and Germanium Street to be reasonable locations for adding crosswalk pavement marking and signage.
