CASE

CONSIDER IMPROVEMENT PROJECT #99-63 CONSTRUCTION
OF SEWER AND WATERMAIN ALONG SUNFISH LAKE BOULEVARD
By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

On August 10, 1999, a public hearing was concluded on Improvement Project (IP) #99-63, the
extension of sanitary sewer and watermain to the Waltek property. The sixty-day comment
period ends October 9, 1999. On Friday, October 8, 1999, a petition signed by four of the five
benefited properties opposing the project was received by the City. The petition is attached. The
City Charter prevents the authorization of this project under 429 (assessment) process for a
minimum of 12 months.

Since the City has made certain commitments to Waltek to provide sewer and water services, the
Council may wish to consider authorizing the project as a utility project.

Recommendation:

Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the above project a non-assessable utility
project.

Council Action:

Motion to authorize the improvements as a non-assessable utility project funded by the utility
fund.

Reviewed by:

City Engineer
City Administrator
Director of Public Works
Finance Officer
City Attorney

BRA_FS l l V O L I lusers lPMiller~IP99-6 3.doc 10/08/99
