PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Personnel Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, September 14, <br />1999, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember Susan E. Anderson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager $oyce Pruitt Hottinger <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Director of Public Works/Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at 5:33 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />There was none. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Receive Hiring Recommendation Part-Time Receptionist Position <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Pruitt Hottinger explained that on June 8, 1999, City Council <br />authorized staff to begin the process of hiring a part-time Receptionist position for <br />Administrative Services. The City has been utilizing a temporary employee to fill the <br />administrative support need since approximately January 1999. The funding source for the <br />regular status, 20~hour/week position, was approved by Council on May 25, 1999. In accordance <br />with the City's administrative policy, adopted on April 27, 1999, the position of part-time <br />Receptionist was externally advertised. An ad was run in the local paper and 24 applications <br />were received. The applications were reviewed independently by three staff members. Five <br />finalists were invited to participate in oral interviews on September 1, 1999, with Finance Officer <br />Diana Lund, Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik and Administrative Services Manager Joyce <br />Pruitt Hottinger. All five candidates were asked the same interview questions and were required <br />to complete two in-basket assignments. Based on the interview results, staff recornmended Pam <br />Miller be hired for the part-time Receptionist position, contingent upon successful completion of <br />a background investigation of driving records, criminal history and a physical examination. <br /> <br />Personnel Committee/September 14, 1999 <br /> Page 1 of 7 <br /> <br /> <br />
