City of Ramsey

15153 NOWTHEN BOULEVARD N.W., RAMSEY, MINNESOTA 55209

PHONE (612) 427-1410 FAX (612) 427-5543
TDD (612) 427-8591

Memo

To:

From:

Date:

Re:

Economic Development Authority (EDA)

Community Development Assistant Sean Walther

March 3, 1999

Staff Updates

Budget Update: Please find the attached City Council Case coversheet prepared by
Finance Officer Diana Lurid.

North Suburban Home Improvement Show: As of March 2, 1999, we have
gathered roughly 46 vendors to exhibit at the event. We are still working to fill the
three remaining booths, and firm up the commitments to perform informational
seminars. Each City will have a six-foot table available for handouts and other
information for residents in attendance. The Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce is
providing concessions as a fundraising event. The committee anticipates being able
to retum one half of each city's $1,500 donation. Attached for your information is a
list of the vendors, the budget and the advertisement flyer. Please promote the event
to your friends and neighbors!

Business Appreciation Day: Mayor Gamec and City staff have been negotiating
with The Links at Northfork on prices for the golf tournament and the dinner following.
The last two years the event was held at Rum River Golf Course and McDuff's
Restaurant, at a cost of $55 per golfer for 18-holes, dinner and $3 credit at the pro
shop. It has been the practice up until last year to .alternate between The Links and
Rum River Hills. The Links have offered to host the golf tournament at a cost of $55.
However, a 12 oz. New York Strip steak dinner will cost about $20 a person through
their usual caterer. The Mayor is exploring other options for the dinner, including
moving the dinner to J.R,'s reception hall or possibly finding a different caterer. If we
hold the entire event at The Links, we probably need to charge participants about
$85 for the event. This is a $20 increase from last year. Mayor Gamec may attend
the March 9 meeting to discuss this issue. Attached for your review is the
toumament and dinner information we have received from The Links at Northfork.
