Decisions should be guided and based <br />upon a set of goals and policies that are community driven. <br /> <br />Economic Development Goals <br />The following are the City's goals for economic development: <br /> <br />1. To assist and accommodate local businesses with growth and expansion needs (business <br /> retention and development.) <br /> <br />2. To provide more job oppommities for Ramsey residents who wish to avoid traveling long <br /> distances on heavily congested roadways to work elsewhere in the Metro Area. <br /> <br />3. To diversify employment opportunities and thus increase the range of jobs for Ramsey <br /> residents to cho6se from. <br /> <br />4. To diversify the property tax dollar and lessen the tax demand on residential homes. <br /> <br />5. To have high quality commercial and industrial d~,elopment that increases property values <br /> and casts a good image on the commUidty. <br /> <br /> in residential, industrial and commercial <br /> <br />6. To provide mechanisms to prevent blight <br /> neighborhoods <br /> <br />General Economic Development Policies <br />It is the policy of the City to: <br /> <br />1. Promote economic development within the City of R~msey. <br /> <br />2. Promote redevelopment of underutilized parcels within industrial areas and along major <br /> transportation corridors. <br /> <br />3. Encourage and facilitate infill development on remaining vacant parcels to ensure maximum <br /> efficiency of land use. <br /> <br />4. Appreciate the business community for doing business, providing jobs and services and <br /> strengthening the community. <br /> <br />5. Encourage the cleaning up and reuse of brownfield sites and other blighted sites that are a <br /> health hazard or negative image to the community. <br /> <br />6. Promote the City's identity by requiring quality architectural design and site planning. <br /> <br />7.
