CASE #5 <br /> <br />APPROVE PLAN FOR TENNIS COURT CONSTRUCTION AT CENTRAL PARK <br /> By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />In December 1998, City Council approved the 1999 Parks Capital Improvements that included <br />four tennis courts for Central Park. This $63,000 item was from Landfill Trust Fund earnings, <br />appropriated in 1998. The tennis courts will be located in the southwest comer of the park. Over <br />the past few years, various city officials and staff have noted the need for improved landscaping <br />at this entry point to the park. After the bids are received for the construction of the tennis <br />courts, any remaining moneys will be directed to a connecting path and landscape plan for this <br />1.8 acre comer. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />On Monday, January 11, 1999, the City Engineer and the Parks/Utilities Supervisor will be <br />measuring the area to prepare a site plan. This plan and the tennis court specifications for <br />bidding will be available at the meeting. It is expected that if City Council approves advertising <br />for bids at their January 26, 1999 meeting, bids could be received in the first part of March.
