CASE #

PROPOSED ORDINANCE TO ESTABLISH REGULATIONS
FOR URBAN SIDEWALKS
By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Coordinator

Background:

At the February 10, 2000 Park and Recreation (P&R) Commission meeting, the P&R
Commission provided an opportunity for the public and developers to comment on the proposed
urban sidewalk ordinance. One developer inquired as to whether the ordinance would apply to
phases that have already received preliminary plat approval. There were no other comments
received. The draft meeting minutes from the February 10, 2000 P&R Commission meeting are
attached. Also attached is the proposed ordinance amendment to City Code. The text includes
language recommended by the Planning Commission at their February meeting, which doesn't
require these sidewalks along cul-de-sac streets. Based upon any comments received at the
public hearing, the Planning Commission may recommend that City Council introduce the
ordinance on March 14, with adoption as soon as March 28, 2000.

Commission Action:

Motion to recommend City Council introduce an ordinance establishing regulations for
sidewalks in urban residential subdivisions.

Reviewed by:
Parks/Utilities Supervisor
Community Development Director

PC: 03/6/00

Copies also distributed to:
City Council
Park & Recreation Commission
City Engineer
Director of Public Works
Community Development Assistant

G:\users\City Shared File\PLANNING\Cases~2000\03.06.00\Sidewalk Ord.
