In correspondence with our
Community Development Director Cindy Sherman, you had learned that the property is zoned high-
density residential and that the City does not currently have a proposal for that property, nor are there any
plans by the City to purchase it.

The Park and Recreation Commission's park and trail plan does not show any park or trail development
plan on that property or in the immediate vioinity. However, I will bring the question to the Park and
Recreation Commission at the August 12, 1999, meeting for concurrence with the plan and staff's
recommendation that there is not a need for park space in this area.

As you are well aware, there is approximately 20 acres of park known as the Flintwood Terrace Park west
of Dysprosium Street and north of 142"d Avenue. This is largely open space comprised of wooded areas,
wetlands and an east/west trail linking Junkite and Dysprosium Streets and then north to 145th Court, then
to Krypton Street, which connects to the Sunwood Drive trail system. In addition, approximately 3/4 of a
mile west of this park is the Emerald Pond Park, which is a full-service neighborhood park. Also, about
one-half mile east of Dysprosium Street is the 60-acre Rivers Bend Park, which is a community park on
the Rum River.

Enclosed with this letter is the Commission's Park and Trail plan map for your use. As stated, I do not
foresee the Park and Recreation Commission recommending any park dedication occurring when the City
would receive a proposal for the referenced vacant land. Should you desire additional information, please
do not hesitate to call me at 427-8254.

Sincerely,

CITY OF RAMSEY

Mark Boos
Parks/Utilities Supervisor

MB:ccr
Enc.

CC;

Community Development Director
Zoning Administrator
