Councilmembcr Connolly stated that she knew of a truck maintenance company in the area that <br />will come to the site to do maintenance. <br /> <br />Mr. Kapler requested that Councilmember Connolly research the information on the company for <br />him. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zirnmerman stated that he would be willing to consider the idea of hiring a part- <br />time mechanic. <br /> <br /> The item will be further discussed at the next Personnel Committee meeting. <br /> .cC <br /> ~f' Councilmember Anderson stated she saw a car in another city that had the writing "this vehicle <br /> ,s~s ?ar-a'Y~,. J°Y a local drug dealer" and thought what a good idea it was. <br /> <br /> Councilmember Hendriksen stated that it would be a good idea to do the same with the City <br /> [~ruck that was received due to a DUI and requested that they discuss the idea with the City <br />(~,a'~ttomey and if he agrees with the idea then go ahead with placing it on the truck. <br /> <br /> 6) Authorization to Fill Vacant Administrative Assistant Position <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Pruitt Hottinger stated that with the resignation of Melissa <br />Petrangelo, the City has a vacancy in the position of Administrative Assistant. The starting <br />salary range for the position is $15.00 per hour. The position is confidential in nature and is <br />exempt. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson questioned if they would consider an intern for the position. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman stated that they are not looking for an intern, that they would like <br />someone long term. <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman inquired if the position should be posted both internal and external. <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager I-Iottinger replied that she will post the position both internal <br />and external. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen asked why they would not consider the use of an intern for the short <br />term. <br /> <br />City Administrator Norman explained that the position picks up City Administrator tasks and <br />that they are already behind. <br /> <br />Councilmember Anderson requested that the item be discussed at a work session. <br /> <br />City Council/August 24, 1999 <br /> Page 20 of 25 <br /> <br /> <br />
