CASE # 2 <br /> <br />REQUEST FOR A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT FOR A PRIVATE DOG KENNEL TO <br />MAINTAIN MORE THAN TWO ADULT DOGS ON A PARCEL; <br /> CASE OF ROBERT AND RITA KNOLL <br /> By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On April 27, 1999, the City received an application from Robert and Rita Knoll for a private <br />kennel conditional use permit to maintain a maximum of four adult dogs on the property at 6020 <br />151st Lane N.W. The following items are enclosed for your information: <br /> <br />a) <br />b) <br />c) <br />d) <br /> <br />Site location map <br />Letter of application and site plan <br />Proposed findings of fact <br />Proposed conditional use permit <br /> <br />Notification: <br /> <br />State Statute requires notification of the public hearing to property owners within 350 feet of the <br />subject property. Staff attempted to notify all property owners within 500 feet of the subject <br />property. <br /> <br />Observations: <br /> <br />The subject property is approximately .4 acres in size and is zoned R-1 Residential. Bob and <br />Rita Knoll currently have 2 Labrador Retrievers and they are involved in dog sports such as <br />obedience and agility competition, conformation, flyball and tracking. They would like to <br />expand upon their hobby and acquire 2 more mid-size sporting dogs. The applicants have <br />provided a letter of application and site plan which indicates that the dogs will be kenneled <br />indoors and there is a fenced exercise yard. They have stated that they do not intend to conduct <br />any commercial activities such as breeding, selling, training or boarding, if the private kennel <br />permit is granted. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />City Staff recommends approval of the request. <br /> <br />Commission Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend that City Council adopt Findings of Fact relating to Robert and Rita <br />Knoll's request for a conditional use permit for a private dog kennel for 4 adult dogs.. <br /> <br />-and- <br /> <br /> <br />
