Walther, Community Development Assistant <br /> <br />February 3, 1999 <br /> <br />Staff Updates <br /> <br />Anoka Area Home Improvement Show: The Community Development Assistant <br />attended a planning meeting at the Anoka Armory on February 3®. The Chamber of <br />Commerce has received 20 responses from vendors to reserve space for the event. I <br />only recognized one of the respondents as a Ramsey business (Accent Kitchen & <br />Baths). The planning committee will begin calling businesses that have not <br />responded in an effort to fill the remaining vacancies and try to target business <br />services that do not have representation yet. If EDA members have suggestions for <br />businesses to contact, please extend an invitation to them or send me their names, <br />adresses, phone, etc. Aisc, although we have tried to minimize costs, it appears the <br />cities' will only recover half the amount of the original donation. <br /> <br />A¢CAP Townhome Project: The City Council tabled action on this item at their <br />January 26th meeting and included it on their February 2® work session agenda for <br />further discussion. The City Council will formally respond on the request for non-site <br />specific, non-binding support for ACCAP to do thisthtyPe of project in the City of <br />Ramsey as the EDA recommended at the January t2 meeting. <br /> <br />Economic Development Section of the Comprehensive Plan: Please find the <br />enclosed draft of the Economic Development Section of the Comprehensive Plan. <br />Staff suggests that members review the draft and forward any comments, concerns <br />or suggestions to City staff. Staff will bring your input to the Planning Commission at <br />their work session on February 16th. Please be aware that the Planning Commission <br />will listen to your suggestions, but is not obligated to include them in their <br />recommendation to the City Council. Staff anticipates the Planning Commission will <br />make their recommendation to City Council on March 2, 1999. <br /> <br /> <br />
