I
I
I
I
I
I
I

RAMSEY POLICE DEPARTMENT
MONTHLY REPORT
DECEMBER, 1997

I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
i
I

On December 20, 1997, Officer Erdman and Officer Carlson assisted the Anoka Police
Department with a felony chase that came into the city of Ramsey. The suspect crashed his
vehicle at County Road #83 and the railroad tracks (the suspect's vehicle was later struck by a
train and totaled) and then stole a vehicle from the gas pumps at the Oasis Market. The chase
continued on to an address on 173rd Avenue. The suspect was arrested after a 2-hour stand-off.
Officers from Anoka PD, Anoka County Sheriff, Elk River PD, Minnesota State Patrol and
Ramsey PD were present at the residence. Assistance was also provided by the Minnesota State
Patrol helicopter.

This department received a check for $120 as payment for signs damaged. This was the result of
an arrest made in 1997.

The department received notice that part of the sentence from the chase in November was
restitution for $2,950.67 for the damage on the squad car.

The department responded to 602 Calls for Service in December compared to 703 in November.
In 1997, we responded to 8,323 Calls for Service compared to 8,188 in 1996.
