AdaDtive Equipment Lendinq Library <br /> <br />II. Project Activity <br /> <br />A. Briefly describe the project. <br /> <br />1. Project location <br />Services are offered through the Arc office or staff meet <br />with the people in their homes. The Toy and Adaptive <br />Equipment Lending Library is located in the Blaine Office, <br />however, toys and equipment can also be brought to family <br />homes when necessary. <br /> <br />2. Project activities (acquisition, relocation, <br /> construction, demolition, rehabilitation, <br /> administration, etc. <br /> <br />Arc will provide individual advocacy services to adults with <br />developmental disabilities and their parents/guardians to <br />help them find services, resolve issues or problems or to <br />pursue their rights. Examples include helping people to. <br />find supportive housing, employment or leisure opportunities <br />in their community. Helping adults to resolve problems with <br />finances, medical concerns etc. Assisting parents with <br />guardianship information or help in locating services for <br />their adult children with disabilities. Arc will also <br />continue to facilitate a monthly People First group where <br />adults with developmental disabilities can attend and learn <br />self advocacy skills and socialize with friends. <br /> <br />The Toy and Adaptive Equipment Lending Library is available <br />to families with young children who are low income and <br />families with children with disabilities. Through the <br />library families can borrow toys and adaptive equipment to <br />help stimulate early childhood development and minimize the <br />long term effects of disabilities. By borrowing toys <br />families can also provide many different toys for their <br />children without the expense of purchasing - reserving <br />limited income for other essential items. The library has a <br />variety of typical toys, toys that can be adapted to work on <br />switches and adaptive/physical therapy equipment used at <br />home by families who have children with disabilities. <br /> <br />3. Detail the overall n~,mher of persons benefiting. <br />10 - 15 adults with developmental disabilities <br />5 - 8 families will use the Toy Library <br /> <br />4.
