IV. If the project is more than one year, detail the project activities by year. Project activities are ongoing based on the needs of people using the service. Briefly describe the community problems that the activity address. Individuals with developmental disabilities and their families often experience stress and isolation because they are forced to deal with many complex systems involving medical, educational, social services, and financial issues associated with having a child with a disability at the same time dealing with emotional aspect. Families turn to Arc for information, opportunities to network and gain support from other families, sibling support resources and individual assistance. The need for support and information is life- long process. As children grow the needs, services and systems change. Arc remains an important resource to help families through these transitions. Adults with developmental disabilities are often subject to discrimination because of their disabilities. Through individual advocacy and self advocacy groups they receive assistance to be active participants in their community. Communities benefit from having a diverse population. VI.
