Ramsey Senior Housing Market Study <br /> <br />January1998 <br /> <br /> Other needs identified, but much less frequently, by the respondents included: <br /> · Mix of housing (townhouses, apartments, etc.) <br /> , Executive "high price" single family homes <br /> <br /> · Old substandard farmsteads converted into rental housing <br /> Affordable multi-family housing <br /> Senior townhouses <br /> Apartments for all age groups <br /> <br /> Orderly development of residential subdivisions <br /> <br /> Other Comments and Issues <br /> <br /> Several other comments, issues and concerns were expressed during-the interview process <br /> including: <br /> <br /> Seniors, when they can no longer live in their homes, are forced to move out of Ramsey to <br /> surrounding communities such as Anoka and Coon Rapids. <br /> <br /> Many non-renter residents in Ramsey have identified the need for senior housing because <br /> they have an interest in having their senior parents move closer to them. <br /> <br /> · Future decisions on whether or not to extend the MUSA Line will have a major impact on <br /> the future growth of Ramsey. <br /> <br /> · Several residential subdivisions are in the planning stage. <br /> <br /> Several interviewees expressed the need for transportation services for any proposed senior <br /> development. <br /> <br />Surveys <br /> <br />In addition to the interviews, a total of 50 seniors who live in the Ramsey area were surveyed. To obtain <br />information on the Market Study Area and a potential senior housing project, seniors were asked specific <br />questions such as annual income, current housing expenses, amenities they would like to see in a senior <br />housing development, rent they can afford to pay for a rental unit, their current interest in moving into a <br />rental unit, etc. <br /> <br />The 50 seniors surveyed were obtained from lists provided by the Senior Organization and the Lord of Life <br />Church. The results of the survey assist in determining the need for senior housing, and if a need exists, the <br />type of housing that should be developed. Please note that all survey respondents did not answer all the <br />questions, thus, all responses to each question will not add up to 50. <br /> <br />Community Partners Research, Inc. 29 <br /> <br /> <br />
