I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />CASE <br /> <br /> UPDATE ON T.H. ff-47 PROJECT <br />By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer <br /> <br />The T.H. g47 project has been an issue of utmost interest on the part of the Road and Bridge <br />Committee over the past year. Attached to this case are the minutes of the regular Road and <br />Bridge Committee meeting of January 26, 1998, and a special meeting with the Road and Bridge <br />Committee and MnDOT officials held on January 30, 1998. This case is intended to address the <br />following issues: <br /> <br />Ao <br /> <br />Be <br /> <br />Report on Metropolitan Council Approval of STP Project <br />Letter from MnDOT regarding STP Requirements <br />Revised STP Cost Estimate <br />Update of Project Right-of-Access/Land Acquisition Costs <br />Ancillary City Projects to STP Project <br />Update on Amoco Access .. <br />Proposed Contract from SKF Inc. for Professional Services Attached to STP <br />Project <br /> <br />Report on Met Council approval of STP Project <br /> <br />The full Metropolitan Council met on Thursday, February 12, 1998, to pass on the <br />recommendation of the Met Council Transportation Subcommittee. On Friday, February <br />13, I had a phone conversation with Mr. Kevin Roggenbuck of Met Council who <br />indicated that the T.H. #47 project. was approved. Written confirmation should be <br />received next week. <br /> <br />Letter From MnDOT <br /> <br />At the January 30, 1998 meeting, the Road and Bridge Committee requested a letter from <br />MnDOT outlining precisely the steps the City must undertake to proceed with the STP <br />project. Jim Dvorak of SRF and I have followed up with Mr. Greg Felt of MnDOT. <br />Although the attached response was received on February 12, I don't feel it provides the <br />Committee with the specific information they requested. I have written asking for a more <br />detailed response. <br /> <br />Revised STP Cost Estimate <br /> <br />At the January 30, 1998 meeting, several discrepancies were noted in the comparison of <br />performing the STP project under a one or two stage undertaking. Attached is a revised <br />cost estimate prepared by Jim Dvorak which shows the two-stage process would cost the <br />City nearly $700,000 more than the single project scenario. <br /> <br /> <br />
