I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br />RECOMMEND HIRING LAURIE SWADNER AS PUBLIC SAFETY AIDE <br /> By: Linda Waite Smith, Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As part of the 1998 budget preparation process, the City Council approved a new half-time <br />Public Safety Aide position that would assist the Police and Fire Departments by arranging <br />vehicle maintenance, enforcing parking regulations, and assisting with community education in <br />crime and fire prevention, a~nong other activities. <br /> <br />The position was advertised and 45 applications were received. Nine people were interviewed by <br />a panel consisting of the Police Chief, Police Sergeant, Fire Chief and Administrative Services <br />Manager. After a second interview, the panel unanimously agreed that one candidate seemed to <br />best match the job requirements. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />The interview panel recommends that Laurie Swadner be hired to fill the part-time Public Safety <br />Aide position, contingent upon successful completion of a physical examination and background <br />checks.
