Mr. Jankowski did not feel that placement of stop signs would deter the traffic. The 150th Lane,
Uranimite, 149th Avenue corridor is the quickest way to get from Armstrong to Ramsey
Boulevard. Using stop signs for speed control works pretty good within 200 feet of the stop sign.

Mayor Gamec stated he has talked with people on 152nd and they are wondering what we will be
doing to them.

Mr. Jankowski stated there is no alternative that will not have some kind of consequence. "We
mitigate one problem at the cost of exacerbating a different problem."

Patty Hoffrnan did not feel that a deaf child created any more of a concern than any other child.
A deaf child can see the same as another child so she felt that was not a valid opposition for the
I49th Lane residents. She stated the people on I49th Avenue have the same sun shining issue in
the evening. As far as the cul-de-sac ordinance, maybe we could put a cul-de-sac on Uranimite,
eliminating the 600' problem, or horseshoeing the four-way intersection. It will not be a through
street and it will not affect the Public Works department.

The Committee directed that Mr. Jankowski do a feasibility study for a horseshoe intersection for
149th Avenue.

ADJOURNMENT

The Road and Bridge Committee adjourned at 6:57 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

/o Thieli~g -- ''"----'~ Deputy City Clerk ~/'

S~e~,e Jankowski
City Engineer

Road and Bridge Committee/April 21, 1998
