PERSONNEL COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey Personnel Committee conducted a iegular meeting on Tuesday, May 26, <br />1998, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, <br />Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Thomas Garnet <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator James E. Norman <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br />Director of Public Works Dean Kapler <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Beyer called the regular meeting of the Personnel Committee to order at <br />6:12 p.m. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Case #1: Authorization to Hire Public Works Maintenance Worker <br /> <br />Administrative Services Manager Waite Smith stated that the person that Council <br />authorized staff to hire, at the last meeting, did not work out and his employment has <br />been terminated. Staff is asking for ratification of such action. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to ratify the dismissal <br />of Public Works Maintenance Worker Mike Hanson. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec and Councilmember Beyer. Voting No: <br />None. Absent: None. <br /> <br />Ms. Waite Smith stated that staff is requesting authorization to offer the position to John <br />Nelson who is the person currently at the top of the list. This would be contingent upon <br />Mr. Nelson successfully passing the background checks and physical examination. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Gamec and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to recommend Council <br />authorize hiring John Nelson in the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker, <br />effective June 15, 1998, at a salary of $10.65 per hour, contingent upon successfully <br />passing the background checks and the physical examination. <br /> <br />Personnel Committee/May 26, 1998 <br /> Page 1 of 3 <br /> <br /> <br />
