I
I
I
I

City of RAMSEY Public Works
Activity Report for May '1998

Overview
Obviously the May 15 storm was an important portion of May's activities. After sizeup it was
determined that the city would take on another brush pidkup and disposal service for the citizens.
The part-time force has not yet been brought on line for the summer but the PW crew is "calmly"
waiting for their presence.

Training
Anoka Technical College has been contacted to decide which training is OSHA required. These
training subjects will receive first priority in the scheduling process.

Streets Update
Pre-storm most time was spent preparing streets for overlaying and seal-coating, along with
finishing the pot hole projects. After May 15 all available time was spent clearing roadways and
preparing for the brush pickup to happen in June.

ParkslUtilitles Update
The May 15 storm took its toll on the parks ..as much as anywhere else. Cleanup has started and
will continue until completed.

The SCADA system was damaged by the storm (assumed by lightning). We Will recover most of
the costs from the vendor although there will be some cost absorbed by the city. We will be
changing some software to make the system more user friendly with the city's system.

Well #.4 and the lift station at Apple Ridge will be included on the SCADA system.

Staff is working with AEC to create a map for the water distribution system.
Trails continue to be paved.

Equipment Issues
What Broke-
Grader valve spool was repaired
Vehicle ~06 needs exhaust work
Loader fl601 needs tire repair and engine noise corrected

Misc.-

New chainsaws working well
Garage doors for metal building have been ordered, after brush collection is complete
doors will be installed

Monthly Meeting
Meeting was held on May 27. Minutes of meeting are attached.

New Fence at PW facility
Fence looks great, Locks have been installed.

Dean Kapler
