Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #98-06- RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF PURSUIT INTERVENTION DEVICES FROM DRUG FORFEITURE FUNDS WHEREAS, high speed police pursuits are becoming more common and dangerous to the local community. WHEREAS, Ramsey Police Department would like to take action to decrease the duration of these pursuits, and thus increase the safety of the community, with the purchase of pursuit intervention devices. WHEREAS, each pursuit intervention device has a cost of $500.00 or $2,500 would be required to outfit the City of Ramsey's five squad cars. WHEREAS, the funding for such devices would be paid for with drug forfeiture funds. WHEREAS, these funds, which are accounted for in the Peace Officer's Special Revenue Fund, are to be used exclusively for public safety expenditures. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: That the Ramsey City Council hereby authorizes the purchase of five pursuit intervention devices at a cost of $500.00 each or $2,500 in total. The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Coun¢ilmember , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: and the following voted against: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this the 23rd day of June, 1998.
