CONSENT

DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE EQUIPMENT TRANSFER PROGRAM
By: David Gustafson, Police Chief

Background:

The Department of Defense has, for several years, made surplus military equipment available to
all levels of law enforcement. All law enforcement agencies wishing to participate must enter
into a signed agreement.with the Department of Military Affairs. Such an agreement has been
received by the City of Ramsey and has been reviewed by City Attorney Goodrich who advises
that the terms of the agreement do not place the City of Ramsey in jeopardy nor does it have to
accept or apply for any such equipment. There are no fees or annual costs to participate other
than expenses that would be incurred picking up the equipment at one of the military bases where
it is being disposed from.

It is understood that the Police Chief would gain Council approval prior to accepting any military
equipment under this program.

Council Action:

Motion to authorize the Police Chief to sign the agreement with the Department of Military
Affairs.

I
I'
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
!
I
