I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I CASE # APPOINT RAMSEY 25-YEAR ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE By: Jo Thieling, Deputy City Clerk Background: Discussion has taken place with regard to a celebration for Ramsey's 25th anniversary, which is scheduled for fall, 1999. At the meeting of August 25, 1998, City Council directed that a planning committee for the celebration be appointed at the Council meeting of September 8. Councilmember Haas Steffen has agreed to serve on the committee as well as Margaret Connelly (co-chair), Una Rae Smith, Bill Goodrich, Terry Miller (fireworks), Duane Arens and Carol Pioske. City staff members have also been inquiring as to their role on the planning committee. The Ramsey Resident will be delivered by the end of the week and the front page contains a paragraph about the City's 25th anniversary, asking for people to call if they are interested in serving on the committee and/or if they have any ideas for the celebration. A number of names have been suggested, however, the people have not yet been contacted. Staff will submit such list to Council for direction. (This list will be included in the Council packet, not in the Council agenda). Recommendation: Staffrec0mmends that, upon Council direction, letters be sent to the people who's names were suggested for the committee. The letter would inquire of their interest in serving on the committee, and if they are unable to be on the committee, the letter could then .just invite their suggestions.
