I <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />'1 <br /> <br /> REVISED FC CASE # <br /> <br /> ADOPT RESOLUTION APPROVING PROPOSED MAXIMUM 1999 PAYABLE TAX <br /> LEVY <br /> By: Diana Lund, Finance Officer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On September 11, 1998, the City of Ramsey received a revised levy limit from the MN <br />Department of Revenue. The original levy, dated August 10, 1998, was $2,439,537. <br /> <br />The following information is based on the levy limits as certifed by the Minnesota Department of <br />Revenue as of September 11, 1998. The debt service levy remains outside of the levy limits as <br />certified. <br /> <br />Proposed 1999 Payable Tax Levy_. <br /> <br />Proposed Tax Levies: <br /> General Fund Levy [levy limit as certified] <br /> Debt Service Levy <br /> <br />$ 2,492,669 <br /> 6,793 <br /> <br />TOTAL PROPOSED LEVY - 1999 <br /> <br />.$ 2,499,462 <br /> <br />The attached resolution, as it is presented, reflects a maximum levy of $2,499,462. <br /> <br />While the maximum proposed levy can always be reduced, it cannot be increased without <br />"higher" level approval through an appeals process. Therefore, it is staffs position that the <br />maximum proposed levy be adopted at tonight's meeting at the level proposed. <br /> <br />The proposed maximum levy must be certified to Anoka County by Wednesday, September 30, <br />1998; therefore, the Council must make a decision at tonights meeting as to the amount of this <br />levy. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends Council approval of the City of Ramsey's payable 1999 proposed maximum <br /> <br />tax levy in the amount of $2,499,462. <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />Motion to recommend Council adopt <br />1998, Payable 1999, Tax Levy. <br /> <br />Resolution #98-09-XX Approving the Proposed Maximum <br /> <br />Review Checklist: <br />City Administrator <br />Finance Officer <br /> <br />/77 <br /> <br /> <br />
