I <br /> <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE <br /> PUBLIC WORKS MAINTENANCE WORKERS <br />By: Linda Waite Smith, Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />With the recent promotion of Grant Riemer to the position of Public Works Streets Supervisor, <br />the Public Works Department has an opening for a Public Works Maintenance Worker. <br /> <br />The opening was posted intemally, then advertised extemallY. Applications were rated <br />independently by the Administrative Services Manager and the two Public Works supervisors to <br />produce an interview list. Six applicants were invited to interview on November 3, 1998. The <br />interview panel consisted of the Public Works Director, Parks/Utilities Supervisor, Public Works <br />Streets Supervisor and the Administrative Services Manager. All applicants were asked the same <br />questions and their responses rated independently by the interviewers. <br /> <br />On the basis of the applications and interviews, the interview panel recommends that the current <br />opening be offered to Mr. Lee Hollom, contingent upon successful completion of driving record <br />check, reference checks, criminal background check and physical examination. <br /> <br />The interview panel also recommends that Jeremy Anderson be offered the Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker position being added to the Public Works Department, effective January 1, <br />1999. Mr. Anderson's start date would be January 4, 1999, contingent upon successful <br />completion of driving record check, reference checks, criminal background check and physical <br />examination. <br /> <br />Committee Action: <br /> <br />1. Recommend that City Council authorize hiring Lee Hollom as a Public Works <br />Maintenance Worker, effective on or after November 16, 1998, at an annual salary of $24,066, <br />contingent upon successful completion of background checks and physical examination. <br /> <br />2.
