Date: November 1998 TH 47 at 142nd Avenue NW SRF No, 0982960.5 I I I I I I I I, I I PROJECT DESCRIPTION Existing Conditions The subject intersection exists along Trunk Highway (TH) 47 in the eastern part of the City of Ramsey (see Figure 1: Project Location Map). TH 47 hms north and south, providing a two-lane highway with a posted speed limit of 45 miles per hour at the 142nd Avenue NW intersection. 142nd Avenue N-W is an east/west roadway with a posted 30 mph speed limit. The intersection has minor street stop control. Currently, the geometrics at the intersection of TH 47 and 142nd Avenue NW include a shared lefVthrough lane and a right turn lane for both northbound and southbound approaches, and a shared left./through/right turn lane for eastbound and westbound approaches. Proposed Conditions Proposed intersection improvements included in this project are shown in the preliminary layout in Figure 2. Intersection geometric improvements at TH 47 and 142nd Avenue NW would provide a left mm lane, a through lane, and a right turn lane for northbound and southbound approaches, and a lef~ turn Iane and a shared through/right lane for eastbound and westbound approaches. A fully actuated traffic signal would be installed at the intersection, and the signal would be interconnected with the proposed signal at CSAH 5 and TH 47, and at the signal currently located at County Road 116 andTH 47. This traffic signal is to be included in a project with other signals along TH 47 at CSAH 5, 149th Avenue NW, and 153rd Avenue NW. The signal at I42nd Avenue would be about 350 meters north of the signal at County Road 116 and 450 meters south of the proposed signal at CSAH 5. Proposed signals at 149thAvenueNW and 153rd Avenue NW will be located approximately 1100 meters and 3000 meters north of the CSAH 5/TH 47 intersection, .respectively.
