Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: RESOLUTION #98-1I- RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING ACCEPTANCE OF A TRAFFIC SAFETY AWARD WHEREAS, the City of Ramsey desired to guard ~he safety of the citizens by improving traffic safety and participating in the Safe & Sober Challenge; and WHEREAS, under the provision of the Highway Safety Act (P.L. 89-563), the Minnesota Department of Public Safety has federal funding to promote traffic safety; and WHEREAS, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety had judged the City of Ramsey's efforts to decrease impaired driving and increase seat belt use to be exceptional, and wants to reward those efforts. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: 1) That the City of Ramsey enter into an agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety for the Safe & Sober Challenge during the period from December 1, 1998, to June 30, 1999. 2) That the City Administrator and the Mayor of the City of Ramsey is hereby authorized to execute such agreements as are necessary to implement the project on behalf of the City of Ramsey. 3) That the Police Chief of the City of Ramsey is hereby authorized to be the fiscal agent and administer the grant on behalf of the City of Ramsey. The motion for the Councilmember favor thereof: adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in and the following voted against the same: and the following abstained: and the following were absent: whereupon said resolution was duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council on the 24th day o~'November, 1998.
