City of Ramsey Public Works <br /> Activity Report for October 1998 <br /> <br />New PW employee <br />Applications are being reviewed by both supervisors as to which applicants are to be interviewed. <br />Staff would like to have new person on board ASAP <br /> <br />PW Expansion <br />Basically finished with construction. Existing bathroom will be painted prior to floor being installed. <br />Old refrigerator quit and PW staff will be looking for a replacement. TOnce floor is complete tables <br />and chairs will be ordered. <br /> <br />Metal Building <br />Cleanup is being done on a rain day basis. The inventory of vehicles has been categorized by <br />priority and by season as to which is stored in the heated block building or the metal building. <br /> <br />Safety Concerns <br />Loading dock chocks have been rec'd. Climbing belts for water tower have been inspected and <br />are in acceptable condition. First Aid kits in trucks will be inventoried and "Pocket Masks" will be <br />purchased for each kit. PW staff will be given the opportunity to attend a CPR class in 1999 along <br />with the day fire staff. (Class will be voluntary) <br /> <br />What to Keep, What to Throw Away <br />Inventory of outside storage of the PW site produced a list of materials to be gotten rid of, included <br />are: steel cabling, some RR ties, some power poles, assorted materials (a.k.a. junk) <br /> <br />Equipment Update <br /> -#600 had front end work, drag link, steering section and rear brakes repaired <br /> -#620 had shocks replaced <br /> -#617 had front tires replaced <br /> -#621 had all tires replaced <br /> -#604 needs oil change and tires <br /> -John Deere mower needs safety switch and left hand blade <br /> -Battery charger/booster not working, needs to be repaired or replaced <br /> <br />Streets Update <br />Grant is looking into a Weather service to assist in coordinating plowing efforts this winter <br />Cul-de-sac route will be awarded to Kelly's Landscaping pending council approval <br />DOT inspections on commercial trucks are due <br />All trucks/equipment are ready for plowing <br />On site sand and salt has been mixed <br />This seasons patching and shouldering has been completed <br />Some sign work has to be completed <br /> <br />Streets Highlights <br />Anderson Storm Drainage Completed (Iodine St. and aprox 167th) <br />Overlay excessive lips corrected on 167th and Variolite St. <br />Working w/resident on storm water problem at '155th and Zirconium St. <br />Sunwood Drive Tree replacement completed <br /> <br /> <br />
