I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> AUTHORIZE PROCESS TO HIRE SECRETARY <br />FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT <br /> <br />By: Linda Waite Smith, Administrative Services Manager <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The approved 1999 operating budget contains a new position that will provide clerical support to <br />the Community Development Department. This is an entry level position in the AFSCME <br />bargaining unit and reports to the Community Development Director. The hiring salary would <br />be the starting step of the 1999 compensation plan, $24,066. <br /> <br />The opening will be posted internally for two weeks and then advertised extemally if needed. <br />Applications will be rated independently by three people, according to pre-established criteria. <br />At least five of the top ranked applicants will be invited to a structured interview with a panel <br />which includes the Community Development Director, the Administrative Services Manager and <br />at least one other staff person.
