Met Council is still negotiating this rate at this time. When an amount is decided upon, rates for SAC will be adjusted accordingly. Sewer rates that were adopted at the December 8, 1998 City Council may be increased at a later period in 1999 due to how the Met Council now calculates rates. They use a totally different formula than was used in years passed. Thus, 1999 is being considered a catch-up year in terms that they are going back to previous years and adjusting them according to their new formula - which translates in higher rates. The above rate increases take into effect staff recommendations, rates charged by neighboring cities, annual increases based on inflators, recommended as part of another budget to support services. It should be noted that several of the proposed charges have not been increased since 1992 and possibly earlier in some circumstances. Staff Recommendation: Amend as appropriate and either approve or provide direction to staff.
