~%0 1. Housing maintenance and rehabilitation are goals of both the current and proposed comprehensive plan. 2. Ramsey has many homes built in the 1970s and 1980s that may need updates. 3. Several new homes may have unfinished basements or landscaping needs. 4. Provides an opportunity for local businesses to expand client base. 5. Opportunity for Ramsey to build partnerships and relations with neighboring cities. It is the hope of the committee that if the event is successful, the Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce may choose to run this event in the future. However, this year they are experiencing some administrative staffing troubles. Recommendation: Staff recommends approving the allocation of $1,500 from the proposed 1999 EDA Donations budget to fund a portion of the start up costs of an Anoka Area Home Improvement Show. Staff will forward the Economic Development Authority's recommendation to the Finance Committee and City Council for final approval on December 15, 1998. The Economic Development Authority will meet at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 15, 1998, to discuss this case. I will forward the EDA recommendation to the Finance Committee at the December 15, 1998 meeting. Finance Committee Action: Motion to recommend to the City Council to approve/deny the use of $1,500 from the 1999 EDA Donations Budget for an Anoka Area Home Remodeling Show.
