The quickest way to locate a community's regulations is
through one of the city and state government directories. These
directories list government web sites by state, region, and
count3,. Upon locating the jurisdiction's site, users can access
planning documents by clicking the appropriate agency or
department. However, given that planning functions may be
spread across many departments, and that most local
government sites are organized by department, planning
documents may be split under several headings or departments.
When looking for plans or zoning codes across many
jurisdictions, the optimal search strategy might be to begin with
a state or a regional web site. California, New Hampshire,
Florida, Washington, and other states have one or more online
locations with collections of ordinances, plans, development
guidelines, and other municipal documents. It may be
worthwhile to first consider documents at the state level before
reviewing a local jurisdiction's web site for current versions.
Some state planning agencies and libraries also maintain topic-
based collections of plans and zoning codes if one wanted to
search for an issue by subject.

General Planning Resources
THE AMERICAN PLANNING ASSOCIATION
http://www.planning, ore
The American Planning Association's web site is a rapidly
growing repository of planning information.
