Chapter 11 <br /> <br />DESIGN REVIEW~ <br /> <br />Sec. 11-1. Purpose. <br /> <br /> This chapter is intended to encourage, protect and enhance the attractive appearance of the <br />City of Tempe. The city recognizes that the creation of a desirable environment throughout the <br />city for business and industry, as well as residential areas, is a prime requisite for the <br />preservation of property values, for the development of compatible uses and buildings and for <br />the preservation of public health, safety and general values. <br />(Ord. Applicability; exceptions. <br /> <br /> (a) This chapter shall apply to all sites, landscaping, . buildings, structures, walls and signs <br />which are defined by Zoning Ordinance 808. <br /> <br />Co) Exceptions: <br /> <br />(1) Single-family dwellings and.accessory uses, where not part of a PAD, as defined <br /> in Ordinance 808, Section I, Part III.F.1; <br /> <br />(2) Public utility electrical transmission structures; <br /> <br />(3) The following signs: <br /> <br /> ao <br /> <br /> d. <br />(Ord. No. 86.52, § <br /> <br /> A nonilluminated "for sale/lease" sign six (6) square feet or less in area; <br /> A nonilluminated subdivision advertising sign eighty (80) square feet or less <br /> in area; <br /> A nonilluminated "future development" sign thirty-two (32) square feet or <br /> less in area; <br />A nonilluminated temporary construction sign thirty-two (32) squar~ feet or <br />less in area. <br />1, 7-24-86) <br /> <br />Sec. 11-3. Definitions. <br /> <br />The following definitions shall apply in the interpretation and enforcement of this chapter; <br /> <br /> .Building: Any structure, either temporary or permanent, having a roof and used or built for <br />the shelter or enclosure of persons, animals, chattels or property of any kind.
