Jankowski, P.E.
City Engineer
City of Ramsey
15153 Nowthen Boulevard
Ramsey, MN 55303

1998 /

Project Path Report
TH 47 between 142"d Avenue and 153rd Avenue
City of Ramsey

Dear Steve:

I have signed the Project Path Report and forwarded all copies to Bob Brown at MnDOT, as you
requested.

We are pleased to see the City of Ramsey proceed with access and geometric improvements on this
segment of TH 47. However, as we have discussed with you previously, the County does have concerns
about the project as described in the Project Path Report. Our concerns are summarized below.

We prefer that the intersection at 142nd Avenue not be signalized. Signalized intersections to the
south at CSAH 116 and to the north at CSAH 5, together with property access via Xkimo Street on
the east, would better preserve the through-travel function of TH 47.

Based on the layout included in the document, there doesn't appear to be enough space for a rural
(ditch) section between improved TH 47 and the recreational trail on the east side, particularly
between stations 2+400 and 2+950.

· We would like to evaluate the proposed grades and western termini of the TH 47/CSAH 5
intersection.

Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer

/I
