CASE# ~

UPDATE ON T.H. #47 STP PROJECT
By: Steve Jankowski, City Engineer

Background:

The purpose of this case is to present an update on issues of interest on the T.H. #47 STP
Project.

The public hearing date on the environmental assessment document has been
scheduled for Tuesday, September 29, 1998, in the Council Chambers. The hearing
wiI1 be an open house type format between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., however, the
brief formal presentation will be made at 7:00 p.m. Written comments can be
submitted for a period of thirty days beyond the hearing date.

SRF will present information concerning the costs and grant eligibility of a pedestrian
underpass and overpass from the senior housing parcel across to the northwest corner
of the intersection of C.S.A.H. #5 and T.H. #47. The feasibility of a pedestrian
underpass under T.H. #47 south of the T.H. #47/C.S.A.H. #5 intersection will also be
addressed. A memo from SRF is anticipated before the Road and Bridge meeting.

The issue of drainage improvements associated with the project was also of particular
interest to the Committee. A conceptual drainage scheme has been formulated at this
time. This plan consists of delineated drainage boundaries and culvert locations. The
pipe has not been sized at this point. Staff has suggested a meeting during the week
of September 14 to include the City's storm drainage plans into the design. Staff will
advise the Committee of the time of this meeting if they wish to attend.

Finally appraisals have been initiated on the twelve remaining single family
residences. Eric Bjorklund has already inspected two residences and has made
appointments with most of the other residents.

Committee Action:

No Action Required.

Reviewed by:

City Engineer
City Administrator
Director of Public Works
R&B: 09/16/98
j oFFH4 7 Upd. doc
