Land Use and Population Projections <br /> <br /> In providing municipal utility services, it is necessary to have a planning horizon which <br /> is long enough to enable systematic implementation of improvements, to maintain <br /> service capability equal to or greater than demand and to efficiently use capital and <br /> physical facilities. <br /> <br /> A 20-year planning period will be used for the water study. <br /> <br /> Based on this planning period, the City's land use and service area, and projections for <br /> residential, commercial and industrial growth will be reviewed. <br /> <br /> B. Water Demand Projections <br /> <br /> The current and historical water demands for residential, commercial and industrial users <br /> will be reviewed. A water audit inventory will be performed. The total water pumped <br /> from the wells will be compared to the water sales to determine water losses within the <br /> distribution system. A review of the water meter testing and replacement progress will <br /> be performed. Future water demands will be estimated based on past water use factors <br /> and projected future population and land use planning. <br /> <br />Task 3 - Water Quality Trends and Population <br /> <br /> A. Summary of Water Quality Data <br /> A summary of the existing water quality data will be prepared. The City will provide <br /> current quality data for all of the wells. <br /> <br /> B. Safe Drinking Water Act Impact Analysis <br /> <br /> The water quality data will be evaluated for compliance with the National Primary and <br /> Secondary Drinking Water Standards, proposed Federal Maximum Contaminant Levels <br /> (MCLs) for regulated contaminants, and quality criteria that are not yet officially <br /> proposed, but which are being discussed in the regulatory and scientific communities. <br /> <br /> C. Water Quality Parameters <br /> <br /> Water quality parameters will be established based on drinking water regulations. These <br /> parameters will be utilized for evaluation of water system adequacy. <br /> <br />Task 4 - Water Supply Evaluation <br /> <br /> A. Evaluation of Existing Water Supply <br /> <br /> Based on water quantity and quality parameters, the existing wells will be evaluated for <br /> their ability to meet future needs.
