CASE #6

LAWFUL GAMBLING IMPROVEMENT PROGRAM
By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor

Background:

As the Commission is aware, there were no applications for the Lawful Gambling Improvement
Program. The February 4, 1998 memorandum suggested that the Commission may consider
inviting Peltzer Park area residents to organize a project in their area as part of the survey.

Observations:

The Commission should determine whether the $4,000 scheduled for 1998 will be:
1. Offered to the Peltzer Park survey residents with an extension of the deadline.
2. Remain in the fund with no designation.
3. Be targeted to assist with a Community Built Playground for Central Park in 1999 as
proposed in the August 1997 Five Year C.I.P.

Staffrecommends that the program be structured as in the case of#1 with a default of#3 (1999 -
2003 projected Parks Capital Improvements will be explored later this winter or spring with the
City Council and the Commission).

Enclosed for your convenience is the Lawful Gambling Improvement Program application.

Commission Action:

Motion to designate the $4,000 improvement program budget based on discussion.

Reviewed by:

Parks/Utilities Supervisor

PR:02/12/98

Copies also distributed to:

City Administrator
Fire Chief/Public Works Director
Finance Officer
