APPROVE PELTZER PARK SURVEY
By: Mark Boos, Parks/Utilities Supervisor

CASE #2

Background:

The purpose of this case is to prepare the Peltzer Park redevelopment survey. As the
Commission will recall, the last several years, surveys and neighborhood meetings have helped
define the specifics of neighborhood park development.

Observations:

Because this method has proven successful, it is felt that the playground request for proposal
(RFP) should not be produced until the residents' desires are known. Attached is a map of the
120 resident survey mailing. Also enclosed is a survey and resulting playground RFP that was
used for Fox Park in 1995.

The survey mailer will be will be accompanied by a cover letter describing the park activit~
planned for their neighborhood (Alpine Park, the Savanna Trail, Cottonwood Park, etc.), in
addition to describing what the 35,000 budget can expect to provide for.

Staff will have a draft survey and cover letter available at the meeting for amendment and
approval. (This letter will note that park improvement hasn't specifically been approved by City
Council yet). This survey will be mailed the week of February 16th, allowing for the receipt of
the results and preparation of a draft park plan and RFP for approval at the March 12, 1998 Park
and Recreation Commission meeting.

Commission Action:

Determine survey questions.

Reviewed by:

Parks/Utilities Supervisor

PR:02/12/98
