Absent: CouncitmemberBeyer. <br /> <br />COUNCIL BUSINESS: <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Request for an Extension of Conditional Use Permit for an Overage in <br />Accessory structure Space; Case of Craig and Rhonda Morris <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik explained that Craig and Rhonda Morris raise Arabian <br />horses and Council had approved the construction of a total of 28,659 square feet of new <br />accessory buildings on the 35-acre homestead. The structures include an indoor riding <br />arena/barn, machinery shed, and a storage building for hay. The parcel is allowed a total <br />of 5,664 square feet of garage and accessory structure space. On March 25, 1997, <br />Council granted a conditional use permit to the Morris' to exceed the total allowable <br />accessory structure space on their property at 16735 Nowthen Boulevard NW. The 1997 <br />construction season was interrupted for the Morris' because of a house fire, which <br />destroyed all of the contents of the structure, and the length of time taken to resolve the <br />insurance claim. Mr. and Mrs. Morris have submitted a written request for an extension <br />to the permit which is considered void unless the use is completed within 12 months. <br />Based on the timelines needed to settle insurance claims and replace a home, the Planning <br /> <br />City Council/May 12, 1998 <br /> Page 4 of 16 <br /> <br /> <br />
