City Council public heating and regutar meeting minutes dated March 24, I998. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARINGS <br /> <br />Chairperson Bawden adjourned the regular meeting at 7:54 p.m. in order to conduct the following <br />public hearings: <br /> <br />Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Exceed the Total Accessory Structure Space and <br />the Maximum Single Accessory Structure Size Restrictions; Case of Richard and Claudia <br />Aberle <br /> <br />Request for a Conditional Use Permit to Exceed the Total Accessory Structure Space and <br />the Maximum Single Accessory Structure Size Restrictions; Case of Kevin and Mary <br />Crroothosen <br /> <br />Chairperson Bawden called the regular meeting back to order at 8:03 p.m. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case gl: <br /> <br />Request for an Extension to a Conditional Use Permit for an Overage in <br />Accessory Structure Space; Case of Craig and Rhonda Morris <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik stated Rhonda Morris breeds and raises Arabian horses for her <br />personal use and Council approved the construction of a total of 28,659 square feet of new <br />accessory buildings on the 35 acre homestead to accommodate this special interest. The <br />structures included an indoor riding arena/barn, machinery shed, and a storage building for hay. <br />The 35 acre parcel is allowed a total of 5,664 square feet of garage and accessory structure space <br />and Council approved the additional 28,659 square feet proposed, for a total overage of 26,395 <br />square feet. <br /> <br />Zoning Administrator Frolik explained Council granted a conditional use permit to Craig and <br />Rhonda Morris on March 25, 1997, to exceed the total allowable accessory structure space on the <br />property. Unless an extension is granted by Council, the City Code states that conditional use <br />permits are considered void unless the use is completed within 12 months of approval of the <br />permit. The City has received a written request for an extension to the permit from Rhonda <br />Morris. The 1997 construction season was drastically interrupted due to a house fire which <br />destroyed all the contents of the structure, and the construction of the accessory buildings has <br />been delayed by the length of time taken to resolve the insurance claim. <br /> <br />Planning Commission/May 5, 1998 <br /> Page 2 of 5 <br /> <br /> <br />
