I
I
I
I
I

Case #3
Req!~est:

PCtitioncr:
Problem:

Observations;

Recommendation:

Case g4
Request:

Petitioner:

Problem:

Observation:

Recommendation:

Case #5
Request:

Petitioner:
Problem:

Observation:

Replace existing yield signs with stop signs at the intersection of Riverdale
and Dolomite Streets.

Mr. Gene R. Chancelor

The request is to replace the existing yield signs with stop signs at this
intersection.

The existing yield signs on Dolomite do assign right-of-way to the traffic on
Riverdale, which is a collector street. A 1995 traffic count on Riverdale
was 320 vehicles per day, which is a relatively low count for a collector
street. The existing yield signs are in good condition.

Stop signs should replace the existing yield signs in the future when either
traffic increases to more than 1,000 vehicles per day or the existing yield
signs need replacement because of condition. However, at this time, the
committee recommends no change.

Place stop signs on the east and west legs of the intersection of 137th
Avenue and Ebony.

Mr. Gene R. Chancellor

Mr. Chancellor feels the existing condition of the three-legged intersection
of 137th Avenue and Ebony Street which is uncontrolled by any signage is
unsafe. See Figure C.

This is a three-legged intersection located in a residential district. Normal
rules of the road would require Ebony to yield to the through traffic on
137th Avenue. Sight lines on all legs are relatively good, but there are
several large spruce trees on the northeast comer of the intersection.

Committee consensus is that additional signage is not necessary at the
present time.

Consider additional traffic control signage at 151st Avenue/Ute and Tonto
intersection.

Councilmember Zimmerman asked to have this intersection reviewed.

This is currently an uncontrolled four-legged intersection. Normal
application of right-of-way may be unduly hazardous.

Although there is some vegetation on the southeast comer of the
intersection, the sight lines are generally good. This is a four-legged
intersection in a residential area. There are no traffic counts for this area,
however, it would appear that all four legs of the intersection would have
roughly equal volumes of traffic. There is no obvious major street.
